Ski Areas Header
Squaw Valley is a world-class ski resort with terrain to satisfy all abilities. Best beginner terrain, longest intermediate run and only "the greatest advanced skiing" in the Sierras make this the favorite of many. A little recognized fact: when it's crowded at Squaw, it'll be crowded at other hills as well. And crowds don't seem to affect Squaw like other places since they have so many more chairs to get skiers up the hill.

Heavenly is a wonderful intermediate mountain with the most incredible and panoramic of views. WOW! Worth a trip to the south side of Tahoe. But try to go on a sunny, calm day since it's exposed to the elements.
Ski Lift

Northstar™ at Tahoe is a well-run intermediate level mountain. No matter how they dress it up though, it still gets boring after 3 hours of skiing. The backside is perhaps the best powder in the entire Sierras.
Skiing

Sugar Bowl might be smaller, but it has a little of everything. An excellent area to ski for a day or so, with wonderful variety to their terrain.

Alpine Meadows is a smaller version of Squaw Valley with excellent skiing terrain, but too few chairs for a crowded day. Could be my second favorite ski are in the Sierras, though.
