Donner Lake - with warmer water than Tahoe, feels like a New England Lake would feel. Paddleboats, jet skis, and kayaks are available for rent.
Boca, Prosser, and Stampede Reservoirs - just northeast of Truckee and easily reached. Boating, fishing and picnics are allowed.
Jackson Meadows Reservoir – Located about 30 minutes North of Truckee on Highway 89. Aspen and Lodgepole Pines flank the rocky slopes surrounding this high, isolated mountain lake.
Marlette Lake – sits on Tahoe’s East shore and offers beautiful, popular terrain that’s highly recommended for those who want a half day’s hike. The trail is wide and smooth and has scenic meadow, mountain, and canyon views along the way.
Fallen Leaf Lake – deep on Tahoe’s West shore near South Lake Tahoe. From here, you can easily hike other nearby smaller lakes.
